Nintendo Music App Now Available for Nintendo Switch Online Members

Nintendo Switch Online members can now enjoy the Nintendo Music app at no extra cost, offering a vast library of video game music from popular franchises like Super Mario and Animal Crossing.

The app, exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members, allows users to create personalized playlists, organize their favorite tracks, and manage playlists with ease. Users can add large numbers of tracks to favorites and playlists, and even delete personal playlists if needed, even if their Nintendo Switch Online membership expires.

Managing Your Playlists

To make the most of the Nintendo Music app, here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the Nintendo Music app on your iOS or Android device (requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account).
  2. Browse or search for songs by game, character, or other categories.
  3. Add songs to favorites or directly to your playlist.
  4. Create new playlists within the app and add your favorite tracks.
  5. Manage playlists by renaming, adding or removing songs, or deleting the playlist entirely.

Improved Functionality

The app has recently improved its functionality to better handle large playlists, enhancing user experience. Additional features supported by the app include offline playback, background playback, extended playback options for looping tracks, and a sleep timer.

Additional Features

Users can adjust sound quality settings in the app by going to "Playback and downloads" in the Settings. Playlists can be edited, rearranged, and shared through the app. Game soundtracks can be filtered by platform, addition date, or release year.

A free 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online is available for new users. Users can search for specific game soundtracks on the Search screen. Users can turn off "Spoiler prevention" by clicking grayed-out tracks and confirming they'd like to deactivate it.

Spoiler Prevention

The app has a "Spoiler prevention" feature to avoid spoilers for games, which can be activated by going to Settings and adding specific games. Users can also turn off "Spoiler prevention" from the "Spoiler prevention" list in Settings.

Internet and a compatible smart device are required to use the app. Data charges may apply while using the app. A Nintendo Account is also required for online features. The Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the app.

The app periodically updates with new music, and users can see recent additions by clicking "Recent highlights" on the Home screen or through the "Recent highlights" section in the profile settings. The "Top tracks" section provides a shorter version of the track list for a game.

With the Nintendo Music app, users can enjoy hours of video game music from various games, with some tracks having a "Extend to..." note, which allows extending the track duration to 15, 30, or 60 minutes. Users can create and manage their own playlists by tapping the three dots next to a track and selecting "Add to playlist." The full list of tracks for a game can be accessed by tapping "All tracks."
