OpenAI Transforms ChatGPT with New Tools and Partnerships

OpenAI has unveiled a suite of new tools and partnerships at its Developer Day event, transforming ChatGPT into an interactive platform with over 800 million weekly users.

The company introduced the 'Apps SDK', enabling third-party apps from Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow to integrate with ChatGPT at launch, with more partners like DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, and Uber to follow. These apps can now be used directly within ChatGPT, supporting full-screen view and dynamic interaction.

OpenAI also launched AgentKit, allowing developers to create 'agents' - autonomous systems that perform tasks on behalf of users. This tool includes a visual 'Agent Builder', 'ChatKit' for chat interfaces, 'Evals' for performance evaluation, and a 'Connector Registry' for data access management.

The company has published its most powerful language model to date, GPT-5 Pro, in the API. It offers a context window of 400,000 tokens and up to 272,000 output tokens, priced at $15 per million input tokens and $120 for output tokens. This model is ideal for multi-turn interactions and long queries with the Background Mode.

Additionally, OpenAI has introduced more affordable models: gpt-realtime-mini, which is about 70% cheaper than the previous real-time API, and gpt-image-1-mini, an affordable variant of OpenAI's image processing model.

With these new tools and partnerships, OpenAI continues to expand the capabilities of ChatGPT, making it a more interactive and versatile platform for users and developers alike. The company's commitment to accessibility and affordability is evident in its introduction of cheaper API models.
