Nintendo raises prices for its consoles, Joy-Con controllers, and Alarmo in the US market, with increases ranging from $5 to $10.

In the gaming world, two industry giants, Nintendo and Microsoft, have recently announced changes to the prices of their products. Effective August 3, 2025, these adjustments will be implemented across various gaming products in the US market.

Nintendo, in a move to adapt to market conditions, has decided to change the prices of some products in its Switch family of systems and accessories. The original Nintendo Switch, which was previously priced at $299.99, will now cost $339.99. The Nintendo Switch OLED model, initially priced at $349.99, will now retail at $399.99. The Nintendo Switch Lite, previously priced at $199.99, will now cost $229.99.

However, the Nintendo Switch 2 itself, physical and digital games for both Switch and Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships remain unchanged for now. This means that the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will still be available at its current price, bringing excitement to gamers worldwide.

In addition to the consoles, select Nintendo Switch accessories, certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, some amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo have also seen price increases. The popular Nintendo product, Alarmo, will now cost $110, while Joy-Con 2 controllers for the Switch 2 will now be priced at $100.

On the other hand, Microsoft has made adjustments to the price of The Outer Worlds 2. Initially priced at $80, the game will now be available at a lower price. This change comes after Microsoft admitted that it was too hasty in adopting the $80 price point and has since reduced the price.

It's important to note that these price adjustments are not unique to Nintendo. The Xbox, like its competitor, has faced price increases for most of its gaming products due to US government tariffs and the shaky economic standing.

Retailers like Target have already implemented these new prices as of the effective date. Nintendo's announcement warns that future price adjustments may be necessary, signalling a potential trend in the gaming industry.
