NBCUniversal, Google Ink New Deal: NBC Networks Stay on YouTube TV
NBCUniversal and Google have reached a new multiyear agreement, ensuring NBC and other NBCUniversal networks remain available on YouTube TV. The deal, finalized after a short-term extension, expired on September 30.
The comprehensive agreement includes a long-term deal for short-form clips and highlights from NBCUniversal's premium programming on YouTube. Additionally, Peacock's availability across Google's Android platforms, such as Google Play and Google TV, has been extended.
YouTube TV subscribers, numbering around 9.5 million, will now enjoy the new NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) as part of the renewed deal. This comes after NBCUniversal shut down the previous NBCSN in 2021. The new NBCSN is set to launch later this fall.
The agreement also maintains YouTube TV's carriage of NBCUniversal's full portfolio of networks, including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, Golf Channel, E!, Oxygen True Crime, MSNBC, USA, Syfy, Telemundo, and Universo. Notably, Peacock will become available as a subscription option through YouTube Primetime Channels in the coming months.
With this new deal, YouTube TV customers can continue to enjoy a wide range of NBCUniversal content. The agreement underscores the growing importance of streaming services and their partnerships in the media landscape.
