Multiple upgrades keep the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty truck competitive in the market

The automotive industry is abuzz with the unveiling of the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck. This powerhouse vehicle, manufactured by Ram Trucks, a division of Stellantis, is set to hit dealerships in the first quarter of this year, built in Saltillo, Mexico.

The 2025 Ram HD receives a stylish makeover, featuring split headlights and revised grilles with different designs for each trim level. The updates are the most substantial since its introduction for the 2019 model year.

Under the hood, the gasoline 6.4-liter V-8 engine produces 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, a 5-hp decrease compared to the previous model. The new diesel engine, however, offers a 10-hp increase but no change in torque, producing 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are coupled with an updated 8-speed automatic transmission that's now column-shifted and enables a 3.42:1 rear-axle ratio.

The diesel-powered 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds, a significant improvement from the 8.0 seconds of the 2024 model.

The onboard inverter in the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck is a notable feature, capable of sending up to 2.4 kw of electricity through dual outlets in the bed. This inverter can be activated via the touchscreen or a switch located to the left of the outlets and automatically adjusts engine rpm to provide the necessary power while the vehicle is in park.

The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck offers a 10.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as options. Lower trim levels get 8.4-inch or 12.0-inch displays. Inside, the vehicle features the same tech updates as the 2025 Ram 1500, including an available 14.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with split-screen capability.

The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck's lineup includes Tradesman, Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models. The vehicle continues to offer both gasoline and diesel engine options.

The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck adopts the Ram 1500's automated trailer-reversing system. It also comes equipped with features like dual wireless device chargers, a digital rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warnings, traffic sign recognition, and a driver attention monitor.

While Ram claims the updated transmission will improve fuel efficiency, EPA testing isn't required for heavy-duty trucks, so the actual improvement is unknown. The maximum towing capacity for the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck is 36,610 pounds, a slight decrease from the 37,090 pounds of the previous model. The maximum payload capacity is 7,590 pounds, requiring the gasoline engine and a decrease from the 7,680 pounds of the 2024 model.

The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck's starting prices are $47,560 for the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty and $48,565 for the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty, including destination. With its impressive updates and powerful performance, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck is poised to continue its reign in the heavy-duty truck segment.
