Andy McClelland, an industry veteran with extensive experience in the streaming, broadcast, and advertising sectors, has joined Appear as Senior Vice President & General Manager for the UK & Ireland. McClelland's appointment is a significant milestone for Appear's operations in the region, according to Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, CEO of Appear.
Before joining Appear, McClelland held various positions in video technology, engineering, sales, and executive leadership roles at companies like Comcast, GatesAir, Harmonic, and Imagine Communications. Most recently, he served as the Head of Sales for Comcast Technology Solutions' Streaming, Broadcast & Advertising business across EMEA and APAC.
McClelland's appointment is expected to enhance Appear's ability to support broadcasters and operators navigating the shift to hybrid and software-defined infrastructures. He plans to grow Appear's customer engagement initiatives, including the continuous efforts for Appear's Customer Councils.
Appear's Customer Councils give clients a voice in product development and foster knowledge-sharing around workflow innovation. McClelland believes that customer councils build community, surface real-world needs, and help Appear innovate more smartly.
In his new role, McClelland will focus on expanding the adoption of Appear's VX software platform in the UK & Ireland. VX, a software platform designed by Appear, enables media organizations to build scalable, low-latency production workflows with modular software components.
McClelland finds Appear's timing of R&D particularly impressive, offering the right solution for flexible modular hardware, hybrid setups, or full software/cloud architecture. He shares Appear's passion for customer collaboration and technical innovation.
Throughout his career, McClelland has driven transformative growth and deepened customer partnerships in his previous roles. He led multi-regional sales programs at Comcast and has admired Appear's ability to deliver in the live production technology industry.
