Malayan Banking (Maybank) and Microsoft team up to speed up digital transformation and drive AI-centric innovation.

In a groundbreaking move, leading Malaysian financial services group Maybank has teamed up with tech giant Microsoft for a five-year digital transformation journey worth approximately RM1.0 billion. This partnership emphasizes the importance of empowering Maybank's people as a strategic investment.

The collaboration aims to build a truly agile, faster, and more competitive environment for sustainable growth and long-term value creation for all Maybank's stakeholders and customers. It will see Maybank upgrading its capabilities to Microsoft 365, rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot to its 44,000 employees, and establishing a Centre of Excellence for cloud and AI-powered innovation.

Microsoft 365 Copilot, an intelligent assistant, will act as a game-changer for Maybank's operations. It will offload complex tasks from employees, enabling innovation and improvement in customer experience, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations. Specifically, Maybank uses Copilot integrated within Microsoft 365 applications like Excel, Outlook, and Teams to automate repetitive finance tasks, enhance accounts receivable functions, facilitate collaboration in Teams, and integrate seamlessly with core ERP systems.

The Centre of Excellence will focus on nurturing in-house talents in cloud and AI-powered innovation areas. Microsoft is committed to supporting Maybank's bold vision, one that humanises innovation, empowers people, and accelerates inclusive economic growth for the region.

Maybank's CEO, Dato' Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, stated that the partnership is a leap forward in Maybank's digital transformation journey beyond its M25+ strategy. He believes that the partnership is not just about technology, but about thinking ahead on how to better serve customers, improve ways of working, and accelerate innovations.

Microsoft's President for ASEAN, Mayank Wadhwa, praised Maybank for leading by example, stating that Malaysia is at a pivotal moment in its digital journey.
