Luxeed Unveils Two New Models and Announces Electric MPV Launch

Luxeed, the Chinese automaker backed by Huawei and Chery, is making waves in the auto industry with its latest announcements. The company has launched two new models, the S7 and R7, as part of its 2.0 phase, and has also revealed plans for an electric MPV set to launch in the first half of 2026.

The all-new S7 and R7 models are equipped with Huawei's full-stack technologies and boast impressive driver assistance systems. The S7 and R7 are fitted with a 192-channel LiDAR, a rear-facing high-precision solid-state LiDAR, and five 4D millimeter-wave radars. Both updated models will also feature improved driver assistance systems, with the ADS 4 system on board.

The Luxeed S7, the company's first model, was launched on November 28, 2023. The updated S7 is priced at RMB 258,000 ($35,920), while the R7, Luxeed's second model and the first coupe SUV under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business, was launched on September 24, 2024. The R7 is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, with starting prices ranging from RMB 249,800 to RMB 339,800.

The currently available Luxeed S7 comes in three variants: Pro, Max, and Ultra, with starting prices of RMB 229,800, RMB 269,800, and RMB 319,800, respectively. In a significant move, Luxeed has established a new energy vehicle (NEV) company exclusively for itself, and plans to invest over RMB 10 billion and expand its R&D team to 5,000 people to strengthen its technological leadership.

Meanwhile, Luxeed's electric MPV, set to be HIMA's first electric MPV, is expected to target the around $50,000 USD segment. The MPV will be built on the E0X-L platform and will offer both pure-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, with batteries supplied by CATL. Key features include the integration of Huawei’s advanced technologies, such as Harmony OS and intelligent driving systems, positioning the MPV as a premium offering.

Interested Chinese customers can reserve either model for RMB 2,000 and receive a RMB 5,000 discount on the final purchase price. The official launch window for the electric MPV is early 2026, with the aim of being a significant competitor within Huawei’s smart electric vehicle ecosystem. With these exciting developments, Luxeed is poised to make a strong impact in the Chinese automotive market.
