In the world of electric vehicles, Li Auto has faced a challenging period as the company reported a year-on-year decline in monthly deliveries for two consecutive months. July 2025 saw Li Auto deliver 30,731 vehicles, a nearly 40% decrease compared to July 2024 and a 15% decrease month-on-month from June 2025.

This downward trend can be attributed to several factors. The erosion of demand or increasing competition in China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market has affected sales of existing Li Auto models. Additionally, the company's product lineup reliance on earlier models has faced market pressure before new products are fully ramped up. Market uncertainties and challenges observed in the broader NEV market may also impact consumer purchases or supply chains.

However, Li Auto has taken steps to reverse this trend. On July 29, 2025, the company launched the Li i8, a six-seat battery electric family SUV. Deliveries for the Li i8 are set to begin mid-August 2025. This new model, along with Li Auto’s expansion of retail stores and charging infrastructure, is part of the company's efforts to stabilize and grow deliveries. As of now, Li Auto operates 535 retail stores in 153 cities and 3,028 supercharging stations in China, equipped with 16,671 charging stalls.

Li Auto’s product portfolio currently consists of five models: Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, Li L9, and Li Mega. The Li i8, with a starting price of RMB 321,800 ($44,610), is a significant addition to the BEV market. It's worth noting that Nio Inc's sub-brand Onvo also entered the large electric SUV market with the launch of the L90 on July 28, 2025. The Onvo L90 starts at a lower price of RMB 265,800, including an 85-kWh battery pack.

Since its inception, Li Auto has delivered a total of 1,368,541 vehicles as of the end of July, a year-to-date delivery of 234,669 vehicles, which represents a decrease of 2.21 percent year-on-year. The company operates 527 service centers in 222 cities and Li Auto-authorized body and paint shops.

In summary, the consecutive year-on-year decline is mainly due to falling sales in existing models under increasing market pressure, but the launch of new products like the Li i8 and ongoing network expansion could help stabilize and grow deliveries in the near future.
