Launched: Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic - Explore features, specifications, pricing, and additional details.
In a major move, Samsung has expanded its wearable portfolio with the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic in July 2025. These new smartwatches, designed to offer a refined user experience, boast several key updates in design, hardware, and software.
The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic are equipped with the Exynos W1000 3nm chip, ensuring smooth performance, and come with 2GB of RAM. The base model of the Galaxy Watch 8 features less internal storage than its Classic counterpart, which comes with a generous 64GB.
Both models flaunt sleek designs. The Galaxy Watch 8 adopts the "squircle" shape from the Ultra series, signalling a more unified design language across Samsung's smartwatch lineup. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic retains the iconic rotating bezel, now powered by a 3D Hall Sensor for smooth interaction.
The displays of both watches have been significantly improved. The Galaxy Watch 8 boasts a Super AMOLED, circular "squircle" design, offering a brighter display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, 50% brighter than its predecessor. The Watch 8 Classic sports the same bright sapphire crystal display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
The watches come in various sizes. The Galaxy Watch 8 is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, while the Watch 8 Classic is available only in a 46mm size. The battery capacities also vary, with the 40mm Galaxy Watch 8 sporting a 325mAh battery, the 44mm model boasting a 435mAh battery, and the Watch 8 Classic offering a larger 445mAh battery.
Both smartwatches run on Wear OS 6 with redesigned One UI 8 Watch, and feature Gemini AI, improved health and fitness features, sleep apnea detection, an AI-powered Energy Score, and an industry-first Antioxidant Index. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic also offers a physical rotating bezel for navigating the interface.
The Galaxy Watch 8 starts at $349, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic begins at $499. Preorders for both models commenced in July 2025, with open sales set to begin on July 25 in select global markets.
