Latest Automotive Update, August 13: Introducing Ola Electric's latest scooters, MG Windsor EV sales hitting new highs, Mahindra BE 6 teaser unveiled, and more...
On August 15, 2025, Ola Electric is set to officially unveil its latest electric scooters at its annual 'Sankalp 2025' event held at the Ola Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The event promises to be a significant milestone for Ola Electric, as they are expected to reveal two new scooters. One of these scooters features a sporty design, with sleek lines, angular pillion grab handles, and sharp stylings, while the other appears to be more commuter-focused. Both scooters are rumoured to be built on the Ola S1 Gen3 platform but tuned for different performance characteristics.
In a groundbreaking move, the sporty scooter is expected to debut Ola’s new 4680 lithium-ion battery cells. These high-energy density and faster charging cells are inspired by technologies like Tesla's, making Ola the first Indian two-wheeler maker to use them. This advancement is expected to significantly improve the scooter's range and charging speed.
Alongside the new scooters, Ola will launch MoveOS 6, an AI-powered software update. This software update includes features like an AI chatbot and the company’s voice assistant, Krutrim. The integration of advanced tech such as potential ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features is hinted by a camera potentially mounted on the front on one of the models in the teaser videos.
Ola's "India Inside" vision emphasizes homegrown EV technology, manufacturing capabilities, and a roadmap including sports scooters and advanced AI-supported features. The event will serve as a platform for unveiling Ola's latest product and technology roadmap.
Meanwhile, MG Motor India's top-selling electric car, the Windsor EV, has recorded its best-ever monthly sales of 4,308 units in July 2025. The robust sales of the Windsor EV have resulted in MG's EV market share increasing to 32 per cent during Q2 CY2025.
Mahindra and Mahindra has teased a new blacked-out version of the BE 6 electric SUV on social media, but the name of the special edition remains a mystery. The blacked-out version of the BE 6 is the first electric SUV to be made by Mahindra.
India has transitioned to 20% ethanol-blended petrol (E20) five years ahead of the original deadline of 2030. However, Indian car owners are worried that the use of E20 petrol will affect their vehicles and performance significantly. The government claims this transition will reduce vehicular pollution significantly and cut oil import bills.
