Kazakhstan Introduces AI-Powered Language Education System
============================================================
In a groundbreaking development, a new AI-powered mobile application called Tilqazyna is set to transform the way people learn the Kazakh language.
The Tilqazyna model, developed using state-of-the-art language model techniques and a culturally grounded dataset, is closely related to efforts like KazBench-KK, a comprehensive benchmark created to assess AI models' understanding of Kazakh cultural knowledge.
KazBench-KK, which likely supports models like Tilqazyna, was built by combining expert-curated topics with large language model (LLM)-assisted web mining. This resulted in a diverse dataset spanning 17 culturally salient domains, including pastoral traditions, social hierarchies, and contemporary politics. The dataset consists of 7,111 multiple-choice questions aimed at evaluating and improving the AI's grasp of Kazakh language and culture.
Key features associated with this type of AI model for Kazakh learning and understanding include cultural knowledge integration, support for field linguists, bias and sensitivity awareness, and reinforcement tuning.
Cultural knowledge integration ensures that models are tested and trained to understand culturally specific domains relevant to Kazakh language users, ensuring language learning that is closely tied to authentic cultural context. The support for field linguists enables rapid lexical elicitation, glossing, and prioritization of topics for deeper language studies or AI fine-tuning.
Bias and sensitivity awareness in the dataset includes metadata to flag sensitive cultural or political topics and addresses inherent web source biases, helping maintain ethical AI use in language learning applications. Reinforcement tuning, where models that have undergone reinforcement learning techniques perform better in capturing the nuances of Kazakh language and culture over basic models, suggests enhanced AI training strategies.
Tilqazyna currently supports levels A1 to B1, with plans to expand to B2 and C1 levels by 2026. The model was created using natural language processing algorithms and will be available as a mobile application.
The final product of Tilqazyna will feature voice assistants offering personalized learning programs. The total volume of data processed was 35 gigabytes (GB). The model was analysed with 684,876 lexical units, 20,212-word combinations, 5,558 punctuation correction texts, and 14,790 synonymous sequences.
With Tilqazyna, learning the Kazakh language is set to become more accessible, engaging, and culturally enriching.
Artificial-intelligence is integrated into the Tilqazyna model, a breakthrough AI-powered mobile application designed to revolutionize Kazakh language learning. The Tilqazyna model's cultural knowledge, honed through techniques like KazBench-KK, ensures language learning that reflects authentic cultural contexts, providing an enriching and immersive experience for learners.
