Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Smashes Nurburgring Record for Four-Door Saloons
Jaguar has shattered the Nurburgring lap record for a production four-door saloon car with its XE SV Project 8. The previous record holder, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, was 11 seconds slower. The British automaker's high-performance division, Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), developed this extraordinary vehicle.
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 completed the 20.832km Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in just 7 minutes and 23 seconds. This remarkable feat was achieved thanks to the car's 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 engine, producing a staggering 592bhp. The engine propels the Project 8 from 0-60mph in a mere 3.3 seconds and onto a top speed of 200mph.
The Project 8's performance is further enhanced by its standard carbon ceramic brakes and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. These features, combined with the car's lightweight aluminium architecture and aerodynamic design, contribute to its record-breaking capabilities. The Project 8 has also set a lap record at the Laguna Seca racetrack, demonstrating its exceptional performance on various circuits.
Previously, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 won the 2017 Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper Trophy at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, cementing its status as a true showstopper in the automotive world.
Priced at £150,000, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a rare and exclusive beast. Only 300 units will be built, all in left-hand drive, making it a highly coveted collector's item. Its record-breaking performance and stunning design make it a true icon of British automotive engineering.
