Is the data safety guaranteed on the Galaxy S25 device?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is designed to keep your personal data secure, utilizing a robust, multi-layered security approach centered around the Knox security system and advanced encryption technologies.

Locally stored data on the Galaxy S25 benefits from hardware-level encryption, integrated through Samsung Knox, supporting Android File-Based Encryption (FBE) with Credential Encrypted (CE) and Device Encrypted (DE) storage. This ensures that different data types are encrypted with keys tied to user credentials or device lockscreen, enabling direct boot and stronger separation of sensitive data.

Furthermore, the device employs metadata encryption, which encrypts filesystem metadata (file names and content) with separate keys, adding extra security beyond standard file-based encryption. The Galaxy S25 also provides Knox Dual Data-At-Rest Encryption (DualDAR) for enterprises, offering additional encryption layers for sensitive data.

In addition, the device is future-proofed with post-quantum cryptography to protect against future quantum computer attacks on cryptographic keys exchanged over Bluetooth or other wireless protocols.

When it comes to cloud data stored or backed up via Samsung Cloud, the Galaxy S25 offers end-to-end encryption for backups like call logs, messages, clock, settings, and apps. Enhanced Data Protection ensures that data is encrypted before leaving the device and remains encrypted in the cloud. A one-time 28-character recovery code is provided to decrypt backups in case of device loss or theft.

Beyond storage encryption, Samsung adds multiple privacy and security layers. Knox Vault isolates sensitive data like passwords, PINs, and biometrics in a hardware-protected environment. The Knox Matrix dashboard proactively monitors devices and can automatically log out risky devices from your Samsung Account to prevent unauthorized cloud access. Enhanced Privacy Protection (EPP) encrypts internet traffic with multiple relays and anonymizes device information to make tracking difficult.

Additional protections prevent unauthorized app installs, zero-click exploits, and theft-related data breaches with mechanisms like Identity Check and Security Delay. Customers can opt to store certain data locally, but this may limit some AI functionality.

Secure Folder allows you to hide personal data on the Galaxy S25 and secure it behind a passcode. However, it's important to note that the Galaxy S25 collects personal data that may be stored on-device or on the cloud when using Samsung services. This includes account and profile information, shipping and payment information, customer service and communication information, demographic information, and contact information of others.

To enable Enhanced data protection, navigate to Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Enhanced data protection. To access Secure Folder, navigate to Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Secure Folder.

Remember, while Samsung provides extensive security measures, it's crucial to review your phone's security and privacy settings periodically to ensure data safety. It's also essential to review app permissions and data collection policies of any app downloaded if you're concerned about the types of data being collected and how.
