Voyah Motors, a high-end EV brand under Dongfeng, has announced its self-developed 800V high-voltage platform and super-fast charging technology. This advancement positions Voyah as a leader in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, aiming to address the issue of mileage anxiety in electric vehicles.

The new platform, which uses silicon carbide (SiC) power modules, supports 5C super-fast charging. This technology allows for rapid charging and extended electric range. For instance, the upcoming Voyah Courage 2024 offers an 800V high-performance platform with ultra-fast charging and a range of over 700 km (CLTC). Similarly, the Voyah Lantu Zhiyin EV 2026 supports 5C charging and can gain up to 515 km range after just 15 minutes of charging.

Voyah’s 800V high-voltage platform aligns closely with industry trends in terms of utilizing high-voltage architectures coupled with SiC technology to improve efficiency, charging speed, and thermal management. For example, Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra operates an 871V high-voltage platform with SiC electronic control, enabling a 5-minute charge for a 220 km range. Other brands like BYD use 1000V platforms with even higher charging rates (up to 10C). Mercedes-Benz's upcoming electric GLC EQ also utilizes 800V technology with 320 kW charging power, able to achieve 260 km range in 10 minutes.

Voyah’s charging performance (5C rate) and range capabilities are competitive, though some brands like BYD reach higher charging rates (up to 10C) and others focus on specific improvements like motor optimization and noise-vibration-harshness (NVH) through SiC modules.

The Voyah Free, the first model released under the Voyah brand, is a large, medium-sized SUV. The electric version of the Voyah Free will have two types: a two-wheel-drive version with a single motor, producing a maximum power output of 347 HP and a peak torque of 520 NM, with a cruising range of 505 KM; and a four-wheel-drive model with dual motors, boasting a maximum power output of 694 HP and a peak torque of 1040 NM, with a cruising range of 475 KM.

In addition to the Voyah Free, the brand is preparing to launch a full-size NEV crossover in Europe. Spy shots of the Voyah Passion L have revealed the presence of LiDAR and Huawei systems. The Voyah Passion L PHEV sedan, with 657hp and over 5.1 meters long, has been revealed in China. The battery pack of the Voyah Free electric version is 33KWh.

High-voltage platform technology is currently one of the promising solutions to solve mileage anxiety in electric vehicles. As more brands adopt this technology, we can expect to see improvements in charging speeds, range capabilities, and overall efficiency in the EV market.
