FAW Bestune Pony Mini Electric Vehicle Launches with Improved Range
The FAW Bestune Pony, a popular affordable electric mini car, has received an update for the 2026 model, boasting improved range and design enhancements. According to China EV DataTracker, the Bestune brand sold 17,405 units in the recent past.
The 2026 Bestune Pony, unveiled at FAW Bestune's Fan Cooling Festival in Changchun, Jilin Province, on July 27, 2025, is an updated version of the mini electric vehicle launched by FAW Bestune. It retains its box-shaped body with sharp lines throughout, but with subtle updates to exterior colors and possibly minor feature improvements.
The new model focuses on enhancements in driving range. The 18.11kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack delivers a CLTC-rated driving range of 222km on a full charge. Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 30 kW (42 hp) of maximum power and 90 Nm of peak torque.
The 2026 Bestune Pony is available in a new Camellia Green color and introduces a Snow Cherry Pink exterior color option and Cocoa Brown interior trim. Pricing details were not explicitly stated, but the vehicle continues to target affordability in the EV segment.
Inside, the 2026 Pony adds a new Cocoa Brown color option and features upgrades such as a 10.1-inch smart central control screen (on higher trims), smartphone Bluetooth key functionality, passive entry, OTA entertainment system updates, DeepSeek intelligent assistant, and a driving recorder. The new model also adds a low-speed creep function.
The Bestune Pony, originally launched with a motor of 20 kW (28 hp), a CLTC range of 122 km, and a starting price of 28,900 yuan (4,000 USD), has now evolved into a more efficient and feature-rich vehicle. The refreshed Pony remains a three-door, four-seat micro electric vehicle, with vehicle dimensions unchanged from the current model at 3000/1510/1630mm (length/width/height) with a 1953mm wheelbase.
FAW's Bestune Yueyi 07 PHEV, launched with a real-world tested range of 1754.5 km at a price of 13,900 USD, showcases FAW's commitment to delivering efficient and affordable electric vehicles. The 2026 Bestune Pony mini electric vehicle has officially launched in China, continuing Bestune's reputation as the mainstream brand of FAW. Deliveries of the FAW Bestune Pony will start on July 28.
