The Guangzhou-Honda Everus S1, a compact sedan produced by Guangqi Honda, is set to make its debut in the China car market in April. This vehicle is part of the Everus brand, which was established to offer budget-friendly Honda-based models for China.

The Everus S1 is essentially a badge-engineered version of the fourth-generation Honda City, sharing the same dimensions, approximately 4,420 mm in length. It will come equipped with either a 1.3-liter i-DSi petrol engine or a 1.5-liter VTEC L-series petrol engine, similar to those used in the Honda City. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.

The Everus S1 is positioned as a budget alternative under a local brand owned by Honda’s joint venture, making it the first foreign automaker vehicle badge-engineered under a Chinese-owned brand. Production of the Guangzhou-Honda Everus S1 will commence on March 26.

Detailed sales figures for the Everus S1 in the Chinese market are not explicitly provided, but the fact that production lasted for about three years implies moderate market acceptance, likely limited compared to more mainstream Honda models. The Everus brand was notable as the first example of a foreign carmaker producing vehicles under a locally owned joint venture brand in China.

The starting price of the Everus S1 will range from approximately 75,000 to 120,000 yuan. The production-version of the Everus S1 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.
