InsurTech Forum Nairobi 2025: African Insurers Plot AI-Driven Future
The InsurTech Forum Nairobi 2025 recently brought together over 150 insurance executives to plot a course for digital transformation in Africa's insurance sector. With only 1% of current operations leveraging AI, the forum aimed to address the gap and prepare for an expected 80% AI integration within five years.
The forum, themed 'From Legacy to AI: Actionable Next Steps', highlighted the critical role of partnerships and ecosystem approaches for African insurers to stay competitive in an AI-driven future. Speakers, including Urvi Patel from Deloitte East Africa Consulting Services and Moses G. Kuria from M-TIBA, emphasized the need to overcome low margins, slow growth, and legacy infrastructure to drive innovation.
Participants called for improved digital connectivity and adoption of connected data and AI to boost efficiency and expand insurance access. Ayisi Makatiani, CEO of Caava Group, noted that the forum shifted AI discussions from 'why' to 'how', equipping leaders for practical transformation. The event featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and the Ultimate AI Innovation Challenge for startups in underwriting, claims processing, fraud prevention, and customer engagement.
The InsurTech Forum Nairobi 2025 is expected to catalyze partnerships and strategies shaping the next decade of African insurance. As outdated legacy systems pose challenges, the forum offered a roadmap for insurers to embrace digital transformation, ultimately driving growth and efficiency in the sector.
