The Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) has launched the updated 2026 Haval Big Dog SUV in the Chinese market, boasting a redesigned cabin, advanced technology, and unique personalization options.

The 2026 Haval Big Dog retains its signature boxy, rugged appearance, with subtle but impactful design changes. The front grille has been upgraded with black block elements, enhancing its off-road character, while the retro-style LED headlights now offer advanced lighting with improved low and high beam output. Five new exterior color options are available, providing buyers with more visual customization.

The cabin has been thoroughly modernized, featuring a new 14.6-inch floating central infotainment display running GWM’s latest Coffee OS 3 operating system. The cockpit also includes a 9-inch windshield head-up display (W-HUD), a digital instrument panel, and a D-shaped multifunction steering wheel. Practicality is improved with rear seats that fold down to create up to 1,404 liters of cargo space, and comfort amenities include ventilated seats and a 10-speaker audio system. Wireless charging and 50W fast wireless charging are now available in higher trims.

The 2026 Big Dog continues to offer two turbocharged gasoline engine options: a 1.5T producing 184 hp (up from 181 hp in the previous model) and a 2.0T producing 238 hp (up from 235 hp). The 1.5T is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT), while the 2.0T uses a 9-speed wet DCT. Both engines are available with front-wheel drive, but the flagship 2.0T AWD variant now features GWM’s sixth-generation intelligent all-wheel-drive system with a central differential lock and eight selectable drive modes, significantly expanding its off-road capability.

A notable innovation is the introduction of DIY exterior components, allowing owners to personalize certain aspects of the vehicle’s appearance, which is a rare offering in this segment. This, combined with the expanded color palette, enhances the SUV’s appeal to buyers seeking individuality.

Three main variants are offered, with prices starting from approximately 17,000 USD for the base 1.5T 2WD, rising to about 20,600 USD for the fully equipped 2.0T AWD flagship. Each trim level adds progressively more technology, comfort, and off-road features.

The 2026 Haval Big Dog offers support for DIY customisation of exterior elements like the grille, bumpers, wheel arches, and roof racks. The base powertrain consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The rear of the SUV features a full-width taillight and the embedded "HAVAL" wordmark has been replaced with "GWM."

The front seats come with electric adjustment, heating, and ventilation as standard in upper trims. The updated voice assistant system supports over 70 functions, offering voice control for navigation, media, climate, and system settings.

With the 2026 update, the Haval Big Dog aims to differentiate itself through increased innovative features and personalization. The SUV's competition in the niche square-body SUV category has intensified with the arrival of similarly styled models such as the Jetour Traveller and BYD FCB models. GWM is set to debut a new off-road SUV, the Tank 500, on July 25.
