Revamped Reboot: The Viewsonic ViewPad 10 Pro Tablet PC

In our Taiwan escapades for Computex 2011, we stumbled upon a remarkable find - the Viewsonic ViewPad 10 Pro, a dual-boot tablet sporting a unique blend of Android and Windows 7 operating systems, unlike any standard dual booting device. This bad boy offers a seamless shift from Windows mode to Android and vice versa, all within a blink of an eye, thanks to an innovative application known as "instant switch".

An impressive 10.1-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels graces the chassis of this beauty, all powered by the Intel Oaktrail z670 1.5 GHz internal processor. And with a whopping 32 GB of Solid State Memory expandable via Micro SD card (up to 32 GB), this device's robust storage capabilities leave little to desire. It also boasts 2 GB of RAM and an embedded Intel graphic chipset.

Connectivity options on the Viewsonic tablet include USB 2.0, HDMI, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a built-in microphone for top-tier multimedia experiences. The built-in 2 MP webcam comes in handy, particularly when coupled with the mic.

What sets this device apart from the rest is its effortless transition between Windows 7 and Android 2.2. Users can download apps from alternative Android Markets such as Slideme or AndAppstore while on Android mode, and switch back to Windows with a single click on the Windows icon within the Android menu.

Although it only ran Froyo (Android 2.2), we were genuinely impressed. If Viewsonic manages to get the price right for consumers, it's bound to catch on, especially for developers. Adding to its appeal is its compatibility with DLNA, which means seamless access to data from your PC or media center.

A docking port for the tablet packs in an additional pair of USB ports, HDMI, and Ethernet - all for an estimated price of around $80.00. The ViewPad Pro itself will cost around $300.00 and will be available for purchase in July 2011.

With a 10.1-inch touchscreen, this device allows users to switch easily between running apps from alternative Android markets on Android mode, to Windows mode with a single click, thanks to its innovative "instant switch" application.
