Bitcoin Buying Trend Among Corporations Predicted to Soar

In Bernstein's prediction, major corporate treasuries worldwide will accumulate a staggering bitcoin value of approximately $330 billion by the year 2029.

Corporate cash is set to continue pouring into Bitcoin over the next half decade, as big companies invest a staggering $330 billion in the cryptocurrency, according to analysts at Bernstein.

These investments will likely be driven primarily by Strategy - the rebranded form of MicroStrategy - buying up the digital asset. Other smaller firms are expected to follow suit, looking to mimic Strategy's approach.

Strategy first ventured into Bitcoin buying in 2020, using it as a means to generate returns for shareholders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Strategy holds a whopping 555,450 BTC, worth a whopping $52.2 billion.

The analysts noted that smaller companies with limited growth prospects would likely benefit most from the Strategy Bitcoin playbook, as it offers a rare growth path. However, they cautioned that not every "Bitcoin treasury" would be successful by merely replicating Strategy's strategy.

Bitcoin's price was recently trading at around $94,000, down slightly from the previous day. Despite this minor dip, it's up a robust 50% over the past year and has drawn the attention of a diverse range of companies.

Several smaller firms have already taken steps to emulate Strategy, such as medical technology developer Semler Scientific and Japan-based Metaplanet, a hotel management service provider, both of which are now focused on acquiring Bitcoin. On May 2, 2025, Strategy added 1,895 BTC to its holdings, worth approximately $180 million, and Semler announced its own acquisition of 167 bitcoin worth just over $16 million.

Bitcoin enthusiasts argue that the cryptocurrency is an effective hedge against inflation and a better alternative to holding cash. Critics, however, have labeled Strategy's model risky, as its performance depends heavily on the volatile Bitcoin market. Since its initial Bitcoin purchase in August 2020, Strategy's stock price has skyrocketed from under $15 to nearly $378, representing an increase of over 2,476%.
