IBM and AMD have joined forces to revolutionize computing. The partnership aims to create hybrid systems that combine classical supercomputers and quantum machines, marking a significant step towards next-generation technology.

IBM's quantum computers, renowned for their ability to handle complex problems, will work in tandem with AMD's supercomputers, which currently power the two fastest systems on Earth: Frontier and El Capitan. AMD's chips will manage data and everyday tasks, while IBM's quantum computers tackle intricate calculations.

Dr. Lisa Su, AMD's chair and CEO, envisions this collaboration accelerating discovery and innovation. Arvind Krishna, IBM's chairman and CEO, expects quantum computing to simulate the natural world in novel ways. The partnership focuses on open-source ecosystems like Qiskit and real-time error correction for stability and accessibility, with AMD's technology aiding in quantum error correction.

IBM has previously linked its quantum computer with Fugaku, one of the world's fastest supercomputers, demonstrating its commitment to hybrid computing. Now, IBM and AMD are collaborating to develop 'quantum-centric supercomputing', connecting AMD's data center-grade chips with IBM's quantum machines to leverage hybrid algorithms and enhance computational capabilities.
