Hong Kong-based firm Georgiou Partnership recruits Intellectual Property partner from Tiang, previously associated with PwC.
In a significant move, Chiang Ling Li, a seasoned legal professional with over 30 years of experience in data and intellectual property law, has joined Georgiou Partnership as a partner.
Prior to this, Li was a partner at Jones Day, and before that, she worked at PwC-linked firm Tiang & Partners. Her departure from Tiang & Partners has resulted in the firm now having three partners.
Georgiou Partnership, a Hong Kong law firm established last year by Philip Georgiou, a former disputes partner at Baker Botts and Jones Day, now boasts a trio of partners, including Li, Georgiou, and Randall Arthur.
Li's expertise lies in advising multinational corporations on data breaches and cross-border data transfers. She also conducts analysis on data flow policies in the Greater Bay Area connecting Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. With her extensive experience, Li has also advised governments on cybersecurity regulations and data exchange frameworks.
Meanwhile, at Tiang & Partners, corporate partner Joyce Tung has taken on a consultancy role earlier this year. Earlier this year, funds expert Gaven Cheong moved to Charles Russell Speechlys from Tiang & Partners.
However, the current partners at Tiang & Partners beyond Jackie Tiang, who is known to be a partner, are not explicitly listed in the latest sources available. The official Hong Kong Judiciary's registered law firms list confirms Tiang & Partners is active but does not list individual partners. Therefore, the names of other partners at Tiang & Partners following Li’s exit are not publicly detailed in the latest sources available.
- Chiang Ling Li, with her expertise in data breaches, cross-border data transfers, cybersecurity regulations, and data exchange frameworks, will bring valuable insight to intellectual property law and litigation at Georgiou Partnership.
- As the regulations surrounding data-and-cloud-computing technology become more complex, Li's extensive experience in this area will greatly benefit the firm's compliance with these regulations.
- Despite Li's departure, Tiang & Partners still operates as an active law firm, but the names of other partners following her exit are not publicly detailed in the latest sources available.
- The addition of Li to Georgiou Partnership will strengthen the firm's capacity to advise multinational corporations on various legal matters, particularly those related to data and intellectual property law.
