Hofgarten Solingen adopts a ticketless payment solution for parking management

In a move towards modern convenience and efficiency, the parking garage of Solingen's shopping centre is set to transition to a cashless billing system from November 16th. This shift will primarily enable payments using credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay, with a streamlined solution for Pcard holders.

For those who hold the Pcard (a specific parking card or payment card), the new system offers seamless integration, allowing for automatic or quick payment without the need for physical cash. Pcard holders can enter the garage, park, and pay their parking fees at exit using contactless methods. The system is likely to read the Pcard and charge the associated account directly.

This change aims to enhance user convenience, reduce the need for cash handling, and speed up the billing process. Pcard holders will no longer need to draw a ticket at the barrier or pay using cash or cashless methods.

Moreover, Pcard holders will benefit from lower parking fees compared to non-Pcard holders. The parking fees for Pcard holders are as follows: 0.60 euros for the first and second half hour, 1.00 euro for every full hour, and a daily maximum rate of 4.00 euros. In contrast, the daily maximum rate for non-Pcard holders is 7.00 euros.

Another key feature of the new billing system is the use of license plate recognition for easier access. Upon exit, Pcard holders simply insert their Pcard into a machine for automatic billing, skipping the need for a ticket.

This transition to cashless, card-based payment is a "key prerequisite" for Contipark, the parking service provider, to convert cash machines exclusively to cashless payment methods. The company is responding to changing customer behaviour, as cashless payment methods have been predominantly used in the past.

The new billing system in the shopping centre's parking garage marks a significant step towards a more digital and cashless society, aligning with the evolving preferences of customers.
