Hazardous Incidents: Anker Power Banks Under voluntary Recall due to Reported Injuries and Property Destruction

Anker Innovations Limited has announced a recall of numerous power banks due to a potential fire and burn hazard. The recall, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is in response to incidents of fire and explosion, resulting in four minor burn injuries and one instance of substantial property damage.

The power banks in question were sold for $30 to $50 and have lithium-ion batteries that can overheat. The recalled models include A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689. The model number is located on the back side of the power bank, opposite the brand's logo, and the serial number is on the back side of the power bank next to "SN Code."

To verify your product and register for the recall, visit the Anker Recall Page. To qualify for a refund, owners of recalled power banks must submit a photo to the recall page showing the model number, serial number, the owner's name, the date of the photograph, and the word "recalled" written in permanent marker on the product.

Consumers with an affected product can receive a full cash refund or an Anker gift card for other products. Anker Innovations Limited will send further instructions on returning or disposing of the affected unit after receiving the photo and confirming the product's inclusion in the recall.

The recalled power banks were sold at various retailers, including Best Buy, Target, AliExpress.com, eBay.com, Walmart.com, on TikTok, and Amazon.com, both in stores and online, from August 2023 through June 2025.

The CPSC recommends contacting municipalities for disposal guidance if household hazardous waste (HHW) collection centers do not accept lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries or devices containing them should not be disposed of in the trash, standard recycling, or battery recycling drops due to the risk of fire.
