Hammerhead's Karoo Bike Computers Now Support Third-Party Apps

Hammerhead, the cycling tech company, has expanded the functionality of its Karoo bike computers with the addition of third-party app support. As of March 6, a few third-party apps are compatible with the Karoo, with more expected to join the app store soon.

The Karoo, known for its high-quality touch screen and best-in-class maps, now offers users the ability to install and access third-party apps directly from their bike computer. This update, enabled by the new Native Extension Library, allows developers to create apps that add value to riders' experiences.

Hammerhead's journey began in 2017 as a software company with the launch of its first Karoo computer. Since then, the company has released the Karoo 2 in 2020, which was praised for its superior display and precise navigation. In 2021, SRAM acquired Hammerhead, and this year, the latest Karoo bike computer was released, further enhancing the rider's experience with features like ride data tracking, navigation, guided workouts, and control over electronic components and lights.

With the addition of third-party app support, the Karoo bike computers from Hammerhead offer even more versatility and functionality to cyclists. Users can now enjoy a wider range of apps, with more options expected to become available in the app store soon.
