Google's AI Mode Gets Visual Search, Shopping Boost
Google is enhancing its AI Mode with an innovative visual search feature. This update combines Google's existing visual search capabilities with the multimodal prowess of Gemini 2.5.
The new feature accepts both text inputs and image uploads or photos as starting points. It leverages Google's Shopping Graph, a database of over 50 billion product listings, to power the shopping function.
At its core, the visual search fan-out technology analyzes images in intricate detail. It recognizes main objects and details, then performs multiple search queries in the background. This results in a more comprehensive understanding of the visual context. Each image result will include a link to the original source.
Users can now search for images using natural language queries and shop directly. Instead of relying on filters, they can describe their wishes directly.
Google's expanded AI Mode with visual search promises a more intuitive and comprehensive shopping experience. By combining text and image inputs with advanced search algorithms, users can find and shop for products with ease.
