The collaboration began with Energy Dome's first commercial-scale plant in Sardinia, planned for completion by the end of 2024. The plant, with a 24-hour cycle and 20 MW capacity, will use Energy Dome's CO2 Battery technology, which stores energy by compressing and liquefying CO2 for later electricity generation. This approach avoids the use of critical minerals like lithium or copper, making it a more sustainable and cost-effective solution.

Google's strategic investment in Energy Dome, based in Milan, Italy, marks its first commercial long-duration energy storage contract. This investment fits into Google's broader portfolio of advanced energy technologies, aiming to meet its ambitious 2030 goal.

Energy Dome's CO2 Battery offers a modular, scalable, and AI-optimized solution capable of storing energy for 8-24 hours. Its use of off-the-shelf mechanical components supports rapid, cost-effective global deployment.
