The much-anticipated updated Tesla Model Y has started rolling out earlier than initially planned in both China and Europe. The refreshed Model Y made its debut in China on January 10, 2025, with deliveries commencing in March, as reported by CNeVPost. In Europe, deliveries of the long-range four-wheel-drive version began in March, followed by the rear-wheel-drive variants in May.

Tesla's strategic approach and strong production capacity have enabled this accelerated delivery timeline. The company focused on incremental upgrades, such as increased range and improved features, to enhance the appeal of the refreshed Model Y without resorting to price cuts. This strategic move aims to maintain margin stability in competitive markets like China.

In China, the updated Model Y is now available in two versions, unlike in the West. The revised Model Y is only available in the "Launch Series" with all-wheel drive and a larger battery. In contrast, Europe offers the revised Model Y in parallel with the old Model Y, with the "Launch Series" priced at 60,990 euros, 6,000 euros more than the previous Model Y LR AWD.

The German Tesla factory has been producing the revised Model Y since the end of January, with the first finished vehicles rolling off the production line on Monday morning. Deliveries of updated Model Ys from the German Gigafactory are set to begin next week, and some may be delivered even earlier. Meanwhile, in China, the Shanghai factory has officially started production, with deliveries set to begin at the end of February, earlier than initially planned.

It's worth noting that the previous version of the Model Y is no longer visible in the China configurator, and new Model Ys are also set to be delivered in February. In the European configurator, only the base version with a smaller battery and rear-wheel drive of the old Model Y is no longer selectable.

Tesla's revised Model Y offers a modernized appearance, technical update, and a range of extras. The company responded to customer feedback by retaining features like the traditional turn signal stalk in the updated model and introducing new variants like the six-seat Model Y L to increase market attractiveness.

In summary, Tesla has successfully ramped up production and strategically upgraded the Model Y to maintain its competitive edge in the market, resulting in earlier deliveries than initially planned in both China and Europe.
