Ford NZ Unveils Ranger PHEV: Powerful, Efficient, and Capable
Ford New Zealand has revealed the pricing and technical details of the Ranger plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This new variant offers an 11.8kWh battery for powering external devices, a combined fuel economy of 2.8l/100km, and an EV range of 43km. It will be available in three versions: XLT, Wildtrak, and Stormtrak, priced at $82,990, $89,990, and $94,990 respectively.
The Ranger PHEV combines a 138kW engine and a 75kW electric motor, producing a total power output of 207kW. It offers four drive modes: Auto EV, EV Now, and EV Later, allowing drivers to switch between electric and hybrid power as needed. The PHEV's unique tray design is longer than the regular dual-cab Ranger, accommodating two Euro pallets. Despite the powertrain change, the Ranger PHEV retains a 3500kg tow rating and a payload capacity of up to 973kg on the XLT model. Notably, the PHEV powertrain generates more torque than any other Ranger, with a combined output of 697Nm. The XLT and Wildtrak PHEV models come with a premium of $15,500 and $13,000 over their respective 2.0-litre turbo-diesel equivalents.
The Ford Ranger PHEV brings enhanced efficiency and capability to the popular ute lineup. With its impressive power output, versatile drive modes, and practical features, it caters to a wide range of customers seeking a sustainable and powerful workhorse.
