Fixing a primary issue from The Outer Worlds 1, the second RPG is ameliorating firearms in every aspect, and the science fiction enthusiast within me is already elated over the prospect of the Shrink Ray.

Hey there, pal! Let me tell ya 'bout this Outer Worlds sequel that's been getting me real pumped! At the Direct, they showed off all these RPG goodies that had me drooling. From therad skills and perks, to the faction-based buddies, it's gonna be chock-full of Obsidian's signature style - piles of options to tailor our Earth Directorate agent and their journey.

Now, combat in the first one was okay, but I didn't find it as thrilling as the conversation or world-building - and that's a shame 'cause those sci-fi weapons were a hoot! But this time around, they're really going for it and improving gunplay in every damn way. The gunplay feels better, sounds better, even got new reload animations for added character. I'm crossin' my fingers that this will translate into weapons as satisfying to fire as they sound, with my shots really making a difference.

With the game bringing us to a new star system, the weapons have massive potential for livin' up the universe. They showed off a slew of unique sciencefiction weapons that are straight-up nuts. From the Boarst Blaster shootin' tumors that explode like grenades, to the Rookie's Reward improvin' the more ya use it, it's gonna be a blast. They even got a Pop-Up gun that fires ads to distract enemies! Who wouldn't want to do that?

And don't forget about the Shrink Ray, which doesn't just temporarily shrink enemies, but keeps 'em small until ya squish 'em like a bug. Oh, and the Spectrum Dancer Saber that attacks to a musical beat? Damn, that looks rad!

Obsidian's already proven they knows their stuff with Fallout: New Vegas and more recently, Avowed, so I got high hopes for the combat in the sequel. They've even sought advice from the Halo team to get the gunplay right, so the hype is real. Just gotta see if the combat feels as good as it looks when it drops on October 29th!
