FiberSense Bolsters Subsea Cable Monitoring for Southern Cross Cable Network
FiberSense has bolstered its DigitalAsset Marine technology, enhancing real-time monitoring of subsea cables for Southern Cross Cable Network. The system, now operating over an 'in-use' fibre pair, provides continuous threat detection and location services.
FiberSense's advanced technology offers significant benefits to Southern Cross Cable Network. It can identify and pinpoint threats across the cable's front haul section, deterring potential damage and reducing maintenance needs. The system can even assign culpability for cable damage events, even when the Automatic Identification System (AIS) is deactivated.
The expansion of subsea cable monitoring capabilities in FiberSense's DigitalAsset Marine now covers over 450km of combined terrestrial and marine segments for Southern Cross Cable Network in the Pacific region. The system detects and locates vessels, posting real-time alarms for anchoring or aggressive events, and employs mitigation strategies to prevent cable breaks. Moreover, it can detect and locate cable exposure or strumming events, making the cable more vulnerable to external damage or faults.
FiberSense's DigitalAsset Marine technology, now monitoring over 450km of combined terrestrial and marine segments, has significantly improved Southern Cross Cable Network's subsea cable monitoring capabilities. The system's real-time threat detection and location services, along with its earthquake and tsunami event detection, provide robust protection for the network's critical underwater infrastructure.
