FBN Splits Global Crop Solutions Business, Sharpening Focus on Digital Marketplace

Farmers Business Network (FBN) has split its global crop solutions business into a separate entity, Global Crop Solutions (GCS), allowing FBN to focus on its core digital marketplace. The move follows Corteva's recent split and Kraft Heinz's planned separation, both aiming to sharpen strategic focus.

FBN, which serves over 117,000 farms and offers 7,000 products, cited a need for stronger strategic and operational focus as the reason for the split. GCS will now operate independently, handling product registrations, supplier sourcing, and logistics on the FBN store. Earlier this year, FBN raised $50 million to build new AI-centric tools for its customers, reflecting its commitment to technological advancement.

The ag giant Corteva also announced a split of its seed and pesticide businesses into two separately listed companies. Kraft Heinz, too, plans a similar separation, with both companies stating a desire to accelerate growth and unlock shareholder value.

With the spin-off of GCS, FBN can now concentrate on its digital marketplace, offering financial services, digital tools, and access to inputs and supplies. GCS, meanwhile, launches as an independent supplier of crop protection products, with FBN remaining a preferred customer.
