Geely Geometry C Makes Waves in Global EV Market
In the rapidly evolving world of electric vehicles (EVs), Geely's Geometry C is making a significant impact. The Chinese automaker's export numbers for the Geometry C are soaring, with a staggering 307% year-over-year increase in the first half of 2025 [1][4]. This growth is particularly noticeable in emerging markets like Egypt and Indonesia, where localized production (CKD operations) is being expanded to reduce costs and build resilience [1][4].
The Geometry C is designed as a cost-effective mass-market EV, offering a range of 400+ km with a rapid 30-minute fast charge, advanced safety features, and infotainment systems integrating Android Auto and Apple CarPlay [2]. Despite a domestic sales slowdown due to supply chain issues like battery shortages, Geely is optimistic about strong global demand and emerging market growth for Geometry models [1][2].
In the competitive EV landscape, Tesla remains the global leader in technology and premium market share. However, Chinese companies like BYD, NIO, Xpeng, and Aiways are hot on Tesla's heels. BYD, for example, is leading China's compact EV segment with models like the Seagull, emphasizing affordability and urban practicality [3]. NIO and Xpeng focus on premium and technology-driven EVs, while Aiways targets emerging markets with competitively priced SUVs.
Geely's strategy involves combining multiple brands — Geometry for mass-market EVs and Zeekr for premium models — alongside vertical integration in battery and drivetrain technologies, models on a modular SEA platform, and partnerships such as with NVIDIA. This approach aims to maintain cost competitiveness and technological edge [2][4]. Despite intense competition, Geely's export growth and diversification into 22 countries underpin its resilience in a maturing Chinese and global EV market [4].
The Geometry C is the second car under the Geometry brand, launched in August of this year. It's based on the petrol-powered Geely Emgrand GS, but it gets a totally new front and rear design. The car comes in two battery pack options: 53kWh and 70kWh, with corresponding NEDC ranges of 400KM and 550KM. The price of the Geometry EV in China starts at 129,800 RMB ($20,000), and it has dimensions of 4432 x 1833 x 1560 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2700 mm.
Geometry Auto, a new EV brand under Geely, has exported over 2000 Geometry C models to overseas markets. The batch of new cars will depart from Modern port, Xiamen, and are destined for the Israeli and European markets, with Belarussia being the European destination.
As the trend towards electric and intelligent cars continues to gather momentum, it's clear that Geely is positioning itself as a major player in the global EV market. With its cost-effective mass-market EVs, innovative technologies, and strategic expansion, Geely is poised to challenge both domestic and global rivals.
