Politician Cem Özdemir to Construct Lego Spaceship, Signifying Space Ambitions for Baden-Württemberg
Former Minister Özdemir to Construct LEGO Spacecraft - Ex-Minister Özdemir proposes building a Lego spacecraft.
Cem Özdemir, the beloved Green Party politician, is gearing up for an engaging project - shaping a Lego spaceship. The planned addition to his upcoming office in Stuttgart is a nod to his newfound interest in space travel, a sector that has blossomed in Baden-Württemberg, his home state.
In Stuttgart, Özdemir received the set, with a total of 717 pieces, from the new minister Dorothee Bär during their meeting, when Özdemir headed both the research ministry and the ministry of agriculture, following the coalition breakdown.
Leaving Berlin after an extended absence, the 59-year-old Özdemir aims to snatch the reins as the Greens' top candidate in the upcoming state election. The current governor, Winfried Kretschmann, will not seek re-election, providing an opportunity for Özdemir to step into his shoes.
The Lego spaceship symbolizes Özdemir's eagerness to advance the air and space travel agenda in the state, as reported by Özdemir himself. Approximately 40 percent of the jobs in this burgeoning sector currently reside within Baden-Württemberg.
Known for his environmental and agricultural policies, Özdemir hasn’t publicly discussed specific space travel initiatives in his plans for Baden-Württemberg. Nevertheless, it's well established that Germany is increasingly drawn to space exploration through collaborative efforts within the European Space Agency (ESA).
As the space travel sector expands in Baden-Württemberg, regional universities and research institutions, like the renowned Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), continue to pioneer innovative, space-oriented technologies. Yet, exact initiatives or collaboration from Özdemir in developing these projects are not yet detailed.
The Commission is also proposing to extend the scope of the programme to include the areas of science, technology, and space-and-astronomy, following Cem Özdemir's newfound interest in space travel and his aim to advance air and space travel agenda in Baden-Württemberg, particularly with the presence of renowned research institutions like the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) that are pioneering innovative, space-oriented technologies.
