Enhancing Esports Infrastructure at Hawaii Pacific: Expansion of Gaming Facilities in Real-Time
The Unequaled Esports Experience at Hawaii Pacific University
If you're a gaming enthusiast, Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) has got you covered. Their esports arena at the Aloha Tower Marketplace is now powered by Extron XTP, revolutionizing the way esports content is displayed. This system ensures the smoothest gaming experiences, with real-time transmission of high-action content, player statistics, and media across multiple professional-grade display devices.
Jordan Oliver, director of esports computing services, information technology services at HPU, highlights the arena's unique characteristics: "Our esports arena brings together students and the public, striking a balance between social interaction and technology. This synergy fosters a sense of community like no other." With solutions like Extron's XTP, HPU can remain at the forefront of technology, expanding their environment while delivering unrivaled gaming experiences.

Today, the HPU esports arena is equipped with 30 player stations, each supporting multiple consoles and monitors, 9 4K displays, and 2 commercial-grade projection systems. Additional rooms serve as overflow areas and can receive content from the main arena. During large tournaments, player console content appears on each room's displays, seamlessly flowing back to the XTP II CrossPoint modular digital matrix switcher for routing to any combinatrion of arena display devices.
The audio-visual (AV) system's beating heart is the XTP, guaranteeing non-stop gameplay. The matrix switcher's 50 Gbps digital backplane facilitates instantaneous switching without signal lag or delays, and hot-swappable XTP I/O boards support remote endpoints and local HDMI sources with stunning resolutions up to 4K/60 at 4:4:4 color sampling and data rates up to 18 Gbps.

XTP wallplate transmitters and receivers, along with scaling receivers installed with projectors, extend signals within the arena and to the overflow rooms. As the arena continues to grow, the XTP frame can be populated with additional I/O boards, with the matrix switcher staying in place.
Both player-athletes and HPU's administration agree - the arena is a powerhouse, seamlessly displaying rapid video switching without a hint of glitches. Embrace the future of gaming with HPU's cutting-edge esports arena.
