In the heart of the Stuttgart region, Deutsche Telekom is driving forward the expansion of its ultra-fast fiber-optic network and mobile services, with 178 municipalities participating in the Gigabit project. The aim is to ensure that by 2030, 90% of all households in the region will have access to a fiber-optic connection.

The mobile network expansion in the Göppingen district is a significant part of this initiative. Deutsche Telekom is planning to add approximately 60 additional mobile sites over the next three years, bringing the total number of sites in the district to 171.

Deutsche Funkturm, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, constructs these mobile sites. One of the latest additions serves the A8 motorway and the Stuttgart-Weinsteige-Ulm railway line, providing improved mobile coverage for commuters and travellers.

Landlords who wish to offer a site for a rooftop or mast site can contact Deutsche Funkturm at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot. In return, they receive a long-term, location-based rent for providing areas for mobile sites.

Telekom has already modernized existing mobile antennas in Aichelberg and Göppingen, and 59 mobile sites in the Göppingen district will be expanded with LTE or 5G. The supply of households with fast mobile networks in the district has been increased to 99%, and mobile internet coverage stands at 90%.

Deutsche Telekom's mobile sites in the district also support the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency technology and the Cell Broadcast warning system. When calling 112, the caller's location is automatically transmitted to the emergency control center thanks to AML, ensuring quicker response times in emergencies. Cell Broadcast sends danger messages to mobile phones in the affected radio cell, for example in case of large fires, gas explosions, or floods.

Telekom's commitment to network expansion is evident in its wins in specialist magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest, which have confirmed it as having the best mobile network in Germany. The company is also pushing ahead with the rapid construction of a powerful 5G network in the Stuttgart region, as outlined in the framework agreement.

Those who wish to find out more about the availability of mobile networks in their district can inform themselves at www.telekom.de/netzausbau. Deutsche Telekom continues to rely on cooperation with municipalities or owners to lease areas for new sites, ensuring that the region remains connected for years to come.
