In a bid to meet the growing demand for bandwidth, Deutsche Telekom has improved mobile network coverage in the Limburg-Weilburg district. The telecommunications giant has announced plans to expand 25 mobile sites with LTE or 5G technology over the next few years, adding 30 new sites to the existing network.
Interested landlords can offer a site for a rooftop or mast location at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot. Deutsche Funkturm, the company responsible for building the mobile sites for Telekom, is already constructing new sites in Bad Camberg and Runkel, with the Bad Camberg site also serving the Frankfurt-Köln railway line.
The new mobile sites in the district support the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency call technology, ensuring that emergency services can accurately locate callers in distress. They also support the Cell Broadcast warning system, which allows authorities to send emergency alerts to mobile devices within a specific area.
One existing site in the district has been upgraded to 5G, while three sites in Limburg, Selters (Taunus), Villmar, and Weilmunster have been modernized with LTE technology. Two new antenna sites have been taken into operation in the past four weeks.
Landlords who lease areas for new mobile sites receive a long-term, location-based rent. The improved coverage now serves 99% of the district's population at 84 sites.
Telekom prides itself on having the best mobile network in Germany, as confirmed by specialist magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest. Information about the availability of mobile networks in a district can be found at www.telekom.de/netzausbau.
As the demand for mobile data continues to increase by around 30% per year, according to Julia della Peruta, spokesperson for Deutsche Telekom, the company is continuing to speed up its mobile network expansion in response to this increasing demand.
