England's First Carbon Neutral Vineyard Hotel Opens in Surrey
England's first carbon neutral vineyard hotel, Denbies Vineyard Hotel, has opened at Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey. The family-owned estate, led by CEO Christopher White since 1984, is renowned for its high environmental standards and commitment to green tourism.
The hotel, built by main contractor JC Buchanan, offers 17 en-suite rooms, a Vineyard Restaurant, a bar area, all-weather outdoor dining facilities, and landscape gardens. It is designed to blend into the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), meeting specific criteria for aesthetics and functionality.
The estate has partnered with Environa to create the first carbon-neutral hotel area. The building features high-level thermal installation, low energy lighting, solar panels, and Tesla batteries for energy efficiency. Electric car charging points and cycle parking facilities encourage sustainable transport methods, aligning with Denbies' commitment to best practice in green tourism and achieving a carbon neutral status.
