News Analysis: Elon Musk Returns to Full-Time Company Management Amid X Outage

Following a two-hour service disruption on X, Elon Musk, the South Africa-born billionaire, has declared a return to 24/7 work and office-sleeping to address operational issues and improve the platform's performance.

The recent X outage, one of several this week, highlights the need for larger operational enhancements, Musk stated after the service resumed. The global outage impacted users across various countries, such as the US, Canada, Peru, and Germany.

Since returning to the White House in January, Musk has been actively involved with the government department for state efficiency. However, he has since decided to concentrate more on his principal companies – X, the AI developer xAI with the chatbot Grok, electric car maker Tesla, and spaceflight company SpaceX. This shift in focus follows Musk's revelation of increased working hours, having resumed around-the-clock, seven-day-a-week work and sleeping in conference, server, and factory rooms.

Previously, Musk was the driving force behind government efficiency, pushing for substantial cost and personnel cuts within the US government apparatus. Despite the commitment to his government endeavors, the outage has reinforced Musk's resolve to focus on X and Tesla, primarily.

Meanwhile, SpaceX plans to launch its new giant rocket Starship into space next week, aiming to correct the issues that led to its top stage explosion during both previous test flights.
