Electric Supercar Rimac Nevera Accelerates from 0-60 mph in Record Time, Additional Highlights
The Rimac Nevera R, an electric hypercar produced by Croatian automotive manufacturer Rimac, has made history by setting an impressive 24 new world records in terms of acceleration and top speed, solidifying its position as the fastest-accelerating production electric vehicle.
The Nevera R's record-breaking performance is a testament to its advanced engineering and innovative design. Key records set by the Nevera R include:
- A blistering 0–60 mph acceleration in just 1.66 seconds, or 0–100 km/h in 1.72 seconds, the quickest for any production car globally. - A breathtaking 0–300 km/h time of 7.89 seconds. - A quarter-mile run in 7.9 seconds. - The standout record is the 0–400–0 km/h (0–249–0 mph) time of 25.79 seconds, which reclaims its status as the fastest accelerating and decelerating production vehicle in that range. - A top speed of 431.45 km/h (268.2 mph), marking the fastest top speed for an electric vehicle. - Other records include a 0–300–0 km/h sprint in 14.49 seconds, 0–250–0 mph in 26.2 seconds, and a standing mile in 19.71 seconds.
The Nevera R's impressive performance can be attributed to its advanced quad-motor system producing 2,107 horsepower and an optimized aerodynamic package increasing downforce by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency by 10%, paired with high-performance Michelin Cup 2 tires for superior traction.
The record-setting runs for the Nevera R were conducted at the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) facility in Germany as part of a final validation program ahead of the Nevera R's first customer deliveries.
With its exclusive production limited to just 40 units worldwide and a starting price of €2.3 million (about $2.7 million USD), the Nevera R is undoubtedly one of the most exclusive cars on the market. The company's founder and President, Mate Rimac, stated that the Nevera R created a performance jump that would have previously taken decades to achieve.
Rimac has suggested that the Nevera R may attempt further records at the Nürburgring and Goodwood, further cementing its place as a pioneer in the electric hypercar market.
