In a strategic move to bolster its presence in Southeast Asia, LS Electric, a leading manufacturer of power and industrial automation equipment, is actively expanding its operations in the region, with a focus on Vietnam. The company's aim is to help modernize and digitize the production processes of local manufacturing companies, thereby enhancing their efficiency and competitiveness.

The Korean conglomerate's smart factory solutions, which have been successfully implemented in its own Cheongju plant in South Korea, are now being offered to Vietnamese businesses. These solutions enable full automation of the equipment, with facility data being uploaded via the Internet of Things for monitoring within a digital twin. This setup allows for remote quality inspections and operations, improving the efficiency of the equipment by accumulating and analyzing collected data.

LS Electric's focus on Southeast Asia is driven by the rising demand in the region for smarter, greener industrial infrastructure. The company is positioning itself to support the sustainable energy transition in the region through its advanced technologies. While specific details in the provided results are limited, LS Electric's portfolio typically includes power conversion systems essential for integrating renewable energy sources and managing energy more efficiently.

In addition, LS Electric is collaborating with major partners like Microsoft to jointly develop smart factory technologies, indicating a strong focus on integrating digital transformation with energy and production systems.

Kim Jong-woo, chief operating officer of LS Electric, stated that Southeast Asia is a crucial market for the company. LS Electric's strong presence in Vietnam compared to its Korean rival HD Hyundai Electric, despite being more competitively priced, is a testament to this.

The company's journey in Vietnam began in the 1990s when it became the first Korean heavy electrical equipment manufacturer to enter the country. Since then, LS Electric has boasted a 45 percent market share in the local low-voltage power equipment market in Vietnam as of last year.

The company is also increasing the manufacturing capacity of its production facility in Vietnam. Its Bac Ninh facility in Hanoi supplies Power Conversion Systems (PCS) for Samsung SDI's Samsung Battery Box, a utility-scale Energy Storage System (ESS).

Tran Viet Cuong, deputy director of Consrich Vietnam, has maintained business ties with LS Electric for over 20 years. LS Electric is now pioneering the next-generation electric solutions market in Vietnam, focusing on ESS.

At the recently concluded Elecs Vietnam 2025, LS Electric presented advanced electric solutions for sustainable energy transition, further solidifying its commitment to the region. The annual Elecs Vietnam has become a leading international exhibition for the electric power and sustainable energy sectors, featuring around 150 firms this year.

LS Electric's goal in Southeast Asia is to win more local projects by expanding local production capabilities and strengthening its production, engineering, and service maintenance capabilities in the ASEAN market. The company is also targeting smart factory markets in Europe, particularly Germany.

In summary, LS Electric's expansion in Southeast Asia is a significant step towards supporting the sustainable energy transition in the region.
