Dynamic Energy of Emerging Businesses at the OMR Festival

In the bustling city of Hamburg, the OMR Festival, held on May 9 and 10, attracted over 70,000 people, serving as a vibrant platform for startups, innovation, and networking. One of the highlights was the participation of startups from Germany and Ukraine, facilitated by Startup City Hamburg, a platform launched in June 2022.

Startup City Hamburg offers an overview of startups, financing, funding, hubs, coworking spaces, news, events, and stories in both German and English. Its goal is to make the startup location more visible on a national and international scale. The project is financially realized by Hamburg's Bureau of Economy and Innovation and implemented by Hamburg Invest.

Among the Ukrainian startups showcased at the OMR Festival was Releaf Paper, the brainchild of CEO Alexander Sobolenko. This innovative company has developed a technology to produce paper from the fibers of fallen leaves, a sustainable solution that has already caught the attention of several international corporations, including L'Oréal, Samsung, and Chanel.

Another standout was GIOS, an online learning platform for improving mathematical skills and critical thinking in children. Founded by Nataliya Limonova, GIOS offers remote and blended learning solutions, utilizing gamification and a vibrant TikTok-style approach. The person who represented GIOS at the 5050 stage of the OMR event 2023 was Inna Ivashchenko.

From Germany, Fintico, a rate-buying comparison platform, aimed to revolutionize the rate-buying market. Neuralfinity, on the other hand, is developing the future of artificial intelligence. The city of Hamburg, in collaboration with Startup City Hamburg, offered 12 startups from Ukraine and Germany a joint stand at the OMR-Expo.

Other notable German startups included Nuvo, a KI-driven data integration and onboarding solution, The Midesk, a platform for operational market research activities, and Stackstream, a live and pair-coding platform for knowledge expansion and community building.

From Ukraine, LetsData uses AI to enable data-driven decisions in the age of online misinformation, while MISU predicts serious diseases before they occur using mobile applications and smart devices. YouScan is an AI-driven social media listening platform with leading-edge technology for image recognition.

AI-omatic solutions, a Hamburg-based startup, focuses on industrial AI and has developed a software solution for predictive maintenance. The company plans to expand internationally and already has customers in Europe. Revizion is developing a system for working with feedback and NPS for customer retention, while Neuroflash provides immediate results about consumer perceptions of brand content.

Lastly, Uspacy offers a unified workspace for daily process organization in companies. Novileads, a consulting agency, connects EU and US companies with Ukrainian IT service providers, and UBOS is a no-code/low-code platform for creating AI-driven applications.

One of the most significant achievements was Releaf Paper's receipt of €2.5 million from the European Commission in the framework of the European Innovation Council Accelerator (EIC Accelerator). This funding will undoubtedly propel the startup towards greater success in the future.

The collaboration between startups from Ukraine and Germany at the OMR Festival underscores the potential for international partnerships in the tech industry. As these startups continue to grow and innovate, we can expect to see even more exciting developments in the years to come.
