Voyah's Updated Zhiyin SUV Takes on Tesla Model Y with Impressive Fast-Charging Capabilities

Dongfeng Motor's new energy vehicle brand, Voyah, has unveiled its fourth model, the updated Zhiyin SUV, on October 13, 2024, in China. This electric vehicle (EV) is positioned as a competitor to the Tesla Model Y, boasting impressive fast-charging capabilities.

The updated Zhiyin is available in both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive versions. The rear-wheel drive variant offers a maximum power output of 230 kW (313 hp), while the all-wheel drive version benefits from an additional front motor with a maximum power output of 175 kW.

One of the standout features of the updated Zhiyin is its fast-charging capabilities. Supporting 5C fast charging, it boasts a peak charging power of 440 kW. A 100-kilometer range boost can be achieved in just 3 minutes with 5C fast charging. This impressive charging speed is made possible by Voyah's third-generation solid-state batteries, which have an energy density of 300 Wh/kg and a significantly increased charging multiplier of 3 to 5 C.

The updated Zhiyin also boasts a CLTC range of 650 kilometers. It is equipped with an 81-kWh battery from CATL and features Huawei's Qiankun ADS 4 smart driving system.

The Zhiyin is the first model of Voyah's new generation of pure electric vehicle platforms, known internationally as Courage. The Voyah Zhiyin Qiankun Edition is equipped with a 192-channel LiDAR sensor on the roof, and it comes with the HarmonySpace 5 cabin system.

Voyah, a brand launched by Dongfeng in late 2020, began research on its 3rd-gen solid-state battery technology. The Zhuiguang sedan, the third model from Voyah, was launched on April 18, 2023. The launch of the Zhiyin marks the second electric vehicle model from Voyah, following the Dream MPV launched on May 7, 2022.
