Dnata Announces Major Cargo Facility Developments

Dnata, a leading global air services provider, has unveiled plans for three major cargo facility developments as part of its strategy to expand its operations and meet growing air cargo demand. The company is investing over US$ 110 million in these projects, which are set to go live in 2025.

The new facilities will be located in the Netherlands, UAE, and Iraq, with each designed to meet evolving logistics demands using cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices.

In Amsterdam, Dnata Cargo City Amsterdam will feature automated guided vehicles, smart gates with 3D scanning, and full AWB control. The state-of-the-art 2,380 square meter temperature-controlled facility will offer advanced climate control to accommodate sensitive shipments, improving the handling of high-value and temperature-sensitive cargo, including animal transportation.

Meanwhile, in Dubai South, Dnata benefits from a comprehensive setup integrated with Emirates SkyCargo operations at the Cargo Mega Terminal. The facility supports handling a wide range of products with trained personnel, supporting Emirates SkyCargo’s growing fleet and capacity. The Dubai South facility will include advanced racking systems and truck loading zones.

Although specific details on the Erbil facility are not available, Dnata’s global expansion strategy typically focuses on offering comprehensive ground services and logistics excellence, as seen in other new locations such as Amsterdam and Rome. The Erbil facility is expected to triple Dnata's capacity to 66,000 tonnes per year.

Each facility is strategically located for direct aircraft-to-storage transfers, reducing processing time and improving throughput efficiency. The new developments will also enhance cold chain management for perishables, contributing to the growth of the air cargo industry.

Clive Sauve-Hopkins, CEO - Airport Operations, made the announcement. He stated, "These investments underscore our commitment to providing the highest standards of service to our customers, while also driving innovation and sustainability in our operations."

Dnata's leadership is actively participating in key dialogues on digital transformation, sustainability, and AI in logistics. The company currently operates in 16 countries across 90+ airports and handled 2.9 million tonnes of cargo globally in 2023-24, marking 5% year-on-year growth. The new facilities are expected to further enhance Dnata's global handling capacity.

The new facilities in Amsterdam, Erbil, and Dubai South will incorporate Dnata's cloud-based 'OneCargo' system, ensuring seamless integration and efficient management of cargo operations. These developments are set to revolutionize the air cargo industry, offering improved efficiency, sustainability, and specialized cargo handling capabilities.
