Deliveroo founder secures €115 million investment for new venture - Adidas and H&M are among the initial clients

Berlin-based startup Talon One, founded by Christoph Gerber in December 2015, is set to focus more on artificial intelligence (AI) with the recent influx of capital. The primary objective of this AI development is to better predict consumer purchasing behaviour.

The company, which currently serves around 270 customers, including H&M, Adidas, Costa Coffee, Sephora, Ticketmaster, Nordstrom, and others, differentiates itself from the competition by combining promotions, loyalty, and gamification. Talon One offers a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for businesses to manage personalised advertising campaigns, loyalty programs, and coupon and discount campaigns.

One of the key features of Talon One's SaaS solution is its API-first promotion and loyalty engine, which provides seamless integration into existing marketing technology stacks and allows full control over promotion and loyalty program logic. The platform also offers flexible and customizable loyalty logic, comprehensive campaign management, real-time processing, and developer-friendly tools for smooth implementation and ongoing customization.

Compared to Salesforce Loyalty Cloud, Talon One offers more customization and flexibility in loyalty programs, technical integration, support for diverse campaign types, and high user ratings. However, this comes with a steeper learning curve and higher cost, primarily targeting medium to large enterprises with dedicated technical resources.

Salesforce Loyalty Cloud, on the other hand, integrates smoothly within the Salesforce ecosystem and may appeal more to businesses looking for loyalty solutions embedded into their existing CRM without the need for extensive technical customization.

The funding round for Talon One, led by Silversmith Capital Partners, Meritech Capital, and CRV, is worth around 115 million euros. This investment will enable Talon One to focus more on AI development and expand its services to help businesses better understand and predict consumer behaviour.
