In a bold move to bridge the gap between traditional financial assets and decentralized finance (DeFi), True Markets, a new mobile-first DeFi trading app, has launched with an $11 million Series A round. The fundraising brings the total raised by True Markets to $20 million.

Co-led by Accomplice and PRE Ventures, the round attracted participation from Reciprocal Ventures, Variant Fund, and PayPal Ventures. Notably, seed investors Paxos Ventures and the Solana Foundation continue to support the company.

True Markets is built on the Solana blockchain, and its founders, Vishal Gupta and Patrick McCreary, are veterans from Coinbase (COIN) and Circle. Gupta, as Co-Founder and CEO of True Markets, made a statement asserting that the company aims to evolve beyond the current state of both traditional and crypto finance.

The platform's unique selling point lies in its ability to unlock the liquidity of traditionally illiquid real-world assets by integrating them into DeFi markets. This approach aims to expand DeFi’s scope beyond speculation into mainstream financial asset trading, positioning True Markets as a platform that not only supports decentralized financial innovation but also meaningfully connects DeFi users to mainstream financial markets.

Gupta further claimed that this creates a safer, more trustworthy system. Users maintain custody of their assets at all times with the True Markets system, providing more control, more access, and less risk. The company's goal is to deliver a fairer and more transparent experience that makes asset discovery simple, shows real-time market momentum, and feels as intuitive as the best apps on your phone.

True Markets offers a DeFi trading platform focused on stablecoin-native execution. The stablecoin-native settlement system provides users with more onramp and trade options, enhancing the overall user experience.

The launch of True Markets aligns with the broader industry trend of merging traditional finance (TradFi) features such as compliance, investor protection, and regulated frameworks with DeFi's borderless, programmable smart contracts and decentralized control.
