Deadpool and Wolverine Team Up to Unveil Marvel's Long-Awaited X-Men Film Series
Heck yeah, let's dive into the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next big level-up! Deadpool & Wolverine is about to drop later this month, and according to Kevin Feige, it's freakin' crucial for what's coming next.
"July 26 is when the real deal starts," Feige told Entertainment Weekly. "When Deadpool & Wolverine hits the cinemas." So, what's Feige's buzzword "it?" The full-blown integration of the X-Men into the live-action MCU, duh! It was a pipe dream during the early years of the MCU, but when Disney gobbled up Fox in 2017, it finally became a reality.
While Marvel's been going steady with a few fun mutant appearances, like Professor X making a cameo in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Beast reprising his role in The Marvels, back-to-back fan-fueled excitement is about to explode when a full-blown, X-Men movie lands alongside Cap, Black Panther, Thor, Hulk, and the rest of the Avengers crew. Plus, sparks will fly with those juicy casting rumors!
It's been whispered that the first X-Men script is already cookin', just as Fantastic Four jumps into production later this month, aimed for a 2025 release. It's about bloomin' time!
With corporate acquisition laws swirling and gobbledygook lingo confusing the heck out of Feige, it took a while for the characters to step into the MCU's sandbox post-acquisition. But here we are, about to witness the X-Men storming the MCU!
"I don't want to get into the nitty-gritty of corporate law jargon or whatever," Feige said. "But there were a ton of legal hurdles that took ages to overcome. It's taken a long time since that first announcement, but now it's happening, and it's freakin' awesome!"
The notion that the Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, teaming up with Deadpool in a single film, joined by a gaggle of X-Men characters under the same roof, is a pretty stunning quarter-century experience for us Marvel enthusiasts.
