DAX Climbs on Siemens Energy, Brenntag, Adidas Gains; Gold Surges
The DAX index climbed today, closing in positive territory by midday. This was driven by gains in shares of several major companies, including Siemens Energy, Brenntag, and Adidas. Meanwhile, gold prices also saw a boost, with an ounce trading at $3,888. However, not all shares were up, with Rheinmetall, Fresenius, and MTU among the losers.
The DAX was calculated at approximately 23,980 points, a 0.4 percent increase from the previous day's close. This uptick was supported by gains in several prominent companies. Siemens Energy, Brenntag, and Adidas all saw their shares rise. Additionally, Merck shares surged by nearly six percent following an agreement between Pfizer and the White House on Medicaid prices and tariff relief. This deal, which also involved Pfizer negotiating with the US government on behalf of European pharmaceutical companies like GSK, Merck KGaA, Roche, Novo Nordisk, and Novartis, seems to have boosted investor confidence.
Gold prices also benefited from today's market conditions. An ounce of gold traded at $3,888, marking a 0.8 percent increase. However, not all shares were up. Rheinmetall, Fresenius, and MTU were among the losers in the DAX. Experts anticipate similar deals with other industry representatives, which could continue to drive market growth.
The DAX ended the day in positive territory, with gains in shares of several major companies and a boost in gold prices. While some shares, such as those of Rheinmetall, Fresenius, and MTU, did not perform as well, the overall market sentiment remained positive. As negotiations between pharmaceutical companies and the US government continue, investors will likely keep a close eye on developments in this sector.
