ODATA Opens Fourth Data Center in Mexico to Meet Growing Technological Demand

ODATA, a leading data center provider, has launched its fourth hyperscale data center in Mexico - QR04 - near San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato state. This new facility, fully operational with an initial IT capacity of 12MW and a planned total capacity of 24MW, aims to address the growing demand for cloud and AI services in Latin America.

Located in the SMA Industrial Park, QR04 is part of a network of four interconnected hyperscale centers in Mexico, enabling redundancy and scalability for cloud and AI applications. The facility uses advanced energy-efficient cooling technologies, including the patented Delta Cube air-cooling system and closed-loop water cooling, to minimize its environmental impact.

The construction of QR04 generated over 1,500 local jobs, with 96% of them filled by Mexicans, significantly boosting the local economy. This project underscores Guanajuato's ambition to become a key data center hub in Latin America, with local officials comparing the region's potential to major US data center markets like Virginia and Arizona.

Ricardo Alário, ODATA's CEO, reaffirmed their investment in Mexico and commitment to their global customers with the launch of QR04. Governor Álvarez Aranda of Guanajuato emphasized the state's commitment to becoming a technological leader in Latin America. Alário also stated that the expanded regional presence provides a solid foundation for sustained cloud and AI growth in Mexico and Latin America.

ODATA's commitment to "responsible industry" was also highlighted during the project. The company aims to reduce its carbon footprint through the use of technologies like free cooling and the Delta Cube technology. The information technology sector in Mexico has grown by 22%, surpassing Brazil, as stated during the ceremony.

The QR04 data center in Guanajuato is a key point for meeting the growing technological demand in Latin America. Once fully operational, the Querétaro campus, where QR04 is located, is expected to have a total information technology capacity of up to 300 MW.
